Hikvision CCTV Camera Bundles — Basic, Business and Elite ColorVu

Three bundles: Basic, with two cameras and a DVR; Business, with eight cameras and a DVR; and Elite, with four ColorVu cameras and an NVR. They exist so a buyer pricing a job can open the conversation at roughly the right size.

What is priced here is the hardware. Installation and cabling are quoted after a site visit, because that cost is set by the building rather than the camera count: the run from the recorder to the furthest position, whether a usable route exists, whose ceiling it crosses. Any figure given before that visit is a guess.

Where each tier earns its place on a site

Basic is a two-position system: a flat, a small villa or a single shopfront, with an entrance and one interior sightline recorded and viewable remotely. It should not be sold as coverage of a floor, a yard, or a building with more than one way in. The moment a site needs a third view it has outgrown the tier, and bolting a camera on is a worse answer than moving up.

Business is the coverage tier. Eight cameras across a company floor, a warehouse or a branch can watch approaches and interiors together rather than choosing between them. Where it stops is quality per position: if the real need at one or two places is recognition-grade imaging in poor light, more cameras of this class will not deliver it.

Elite is the opposite trade. Four ColorVu cameras on an NVR buy colour imaging after dark at four positions, which turns evidence that something happened into evidence of who did it. It is not a coverage answer: a site with a dozen places to watch is a Business-count question, and an Elite bundle stretched across it leaves most of the site dark. Where a ceiling will not take a housing of this kind, a specified camera such as the DS-2CD3161G2-LIUF mini dome answers that position better than any bundle.

A bundle is a starting point, not a design: the count in the box should match the count on the drawing, and when it does not you have picked the wrong tier rather than found a bargain.

Before you order — three things to confirm

• Positions, not floor area: pick the tier by the camera positions agreed on the drawing. Buildings of the same size need very different counts depending on the number of ways in.
• Where the recorder lives: Basic and Business are DVR-based and Elite is NVR-based, which are different cabling jobs. Fix the recorder position, then confirm the route to the furthest camera.
• Retention: how many days of recording the client expects to keep is separate from the tier, and usually left until the installer is on site. Confirm the drive on the order.

Compatibility

Each tier ships as a matched set, so cameras and recorder work together without configuration, and all three are viewed through the standard Hikvision clients. Mixing a bundle with a third-party recorder is a recorder-side question: tell us what is installed.

Usually one Business, because two Basic bundles means two recorders to manage. It turns on whether cable can run between them, which the site visit settles.

Can we start on one tier and expand later?
Expansion is limited by the recorder rather than the cameras. Tell us the positions you expect to reach within two years and we will say whether the tier gets there.
