The DS-2CD1123G0E-I is the camera you put on the twenty positions of a tender nobody will ever ask about — the back corridor, the store room, the second stair, the gate that only sees the same three vans. Where it earns its place on a site

Use it where the only question the footage will answer is “was anyone in this room, and roughly when”. • Lens. Fixed at manufacture, so the field of view is decided when you order, not when you mount. Check the focal-length variant on the datasheet against the real width and depth of the position.
• Power and cabling. Confirm the power method on the datasheet before pricing switch ports, injectors or a supply. On a long schedule that line moves the total more than the cameras do.
• Where it is mounting. Confirm the environmental and impact ratings on the datasheet against the position — exposed, semi-exposed or within public reach — rather than assuming a dome housing covers all three.

Common questions on this model

Should I quote the whole site with this model?
No. It is a fixed-lens 2 MP camera, so every view is decided before delivery and cannot be corrected on the ladder. A schedule priced entirely at this level wins on price and loses on handover, because the positions carrying the client’s real risk needed a lens chosen for the distance. Quote it for the routine positions, quote properly for the rest, show both tiers.

Will it identify a face at the entrance?
That is a question about how many pixels land on the face — a function of the focal-length variant and the distance, not the badge on the box. Get the datasheet, do the arithmetic for that position, and if the number is marginal, specify a different camera there rather than hoping.

The client is comparing my price to a cheaper bid. What do I say?
Show the schedule split by position, not one total. If the other bid used a single camera type everywhere, the difference is not margin, it is the entrance.
