The DS-2CD1143G0-I is a 4 MP fixed dome IP camera from Hikvision’s 1-Series, with a fixed lens and built-in IR illumination. It is not the camera you put on the entrance you will be asked about in a meeting. It is the camera you put on the other eighteen positions — the corridor, the back office, the stairwell, the shop floor between the aisles — where you need a clean, identifiable picture and nothing more clever than that.

On most sites the specification pressure goes into two or three positions: the cash desk, the main gate, the loading bay. Those deserve the varifocal, the low-light sensor, the analytics licence. Every other position deserves a camera that mounts flat, works at night, and costs what a corridor is worth.

Where it earns its place on a site

The dome form factor is why this goes indoors and into semi-public areas without anyone thinking about it: flush to the ceiling, hard to grab, hard to knock out of alignment. The fixed lens is not a limitation here; it is the point. Nothing on this camera drifts. Six months after handover it is still framed exactly as you left it, which is more than can be said for a cheap motorised lens.

The 4 MP sensor sits where most integrators want it for general coverage: more pixels across a corridor or an office bay than a 2 MP camera, without the storage and bandwidth bill of pushing every position to 8 MP. The built-in IR means that corridor at 2 a.m. is still a usable recording rather than a black rectangle with a timestamp.

Buy it in quantity. Twenty of these plus three good cameras will beat twenty-three mediocre ones every time, because the money you did not spend on the corridor is what buys the sensor that actually reads a face at the door.

Before you order — three things to confirm

• The field of view, at the desk. This is a fixed-lens camera, so the angle is decided when the order is placed, not when you are on the ladder. Walk the plan first: mounting height, distance to target, how wide each position needs to see. Send us the distances and we will confirm the right variant from the datasheet.
• Channel count and storage. Check the NVR has free licensed channels, not just free ports, and work out recording days at 4 MP across every camera you are adding. A twenty-camera order is where an undersized HDD stops being a rounding error.
• PoE budget on the switch. Confirm the camera’s power class against the per-port and total budget of your switch or the NVR’s PoE ports, especially on long runs with IR at night. The exact class is on the manufacturer datasheet — ask us and we will check it against your switch.

Can I change the field of view after installation?
No. The lens is fixed, so the angle you order is the angle you get. Confirm mounting height and coverage distance before the order goes in; it is the one decision here that cannot be corrected on site.

What IR distance does it reach?
