Hikvision Fingerprint Access Control Terminal DS-K1T804AMF

Hikvision Fingerprint Access Control Terminal DS-K1T804AMF

The Hikvision DS-K1T804AMF is a fingerprint access control terminal for the standalone staff door, where the decision is made at the door itself. Budget the handover as well as the hardware: name two administrators, and make sure the admin password lives somewhere other than one person’s phone. Full datasheet on request — call 16454.

Description

The DS-K1T804AMF is a Hikvision fingerprint access control terminal, and what it really decides on a job is not whether the door opens on the day you commission it. It is whether the client can still run that door six months after your van has left the car park. This is one of the few pieces of security hardware an end user touches every day: staff join, staff leave, someone cuts a finger.

Worth saying plainly, because access control generates more support calls than CCTV ever does. A camera nobody understands still records. A door nobody understands stops letting people in, and it does it with a queue behind it. On this order the hardware is the easy part. The handover is what decides whether you get a thank-you or a phone call.

Where it earns its place on a job

This is the terminal for the standalone entrance: one staff door, a workshop, a stores room, a back-office corridor in a building with no central access server and no appetite for one. The reading and the decision both happen at the door, so nobody has to keep a PC alive in a cupboard for people to get in. If the opening wants a different shape once you have seen the frame, compare it against the rest of the fingerprint terminal range before you commit the order rather than after. And price the handover into the quote as labour, not goodwill.

Before you order — three things to confirm

  • Two named administrators. Not a job title — two actual names, a primary and a deputy, agreed with the client before the order and both present at handover. If they cannot give you two names, that is the first finding of the job, not a detail to sort out later.
  • Where the credentials will live. The admin password has to be written down somewhere that is not one person’s phone: the client’s password manager, a sealed envelope in the safe, the facilities file. Agree the location before you commission, because afterwards it stops being your decision.
  • Who owns the door itself. The terminal makes the decision; the lock, its power, the release, the egress route and the fire strategy are separate items. Confirm in writing who supplies and signs off each of them.

Compatibility

Treat management software and controller pairing as something to confirm rather than assume, because support across the Hikvision access range varies by model and by firmware revision. Tell us on 16454 what the client already runs and we will check it against the current datasheet before the order goes in.

What’s in the box

Contents for the current revision are confirmed on the order, because carton contents change between production runs. Quote the lock, the power supply, the exit button, the cabling and any mounting box as separate lines rather than assuming any of them arrives with the terminal.

Common questions on this model

What happens if we lose the admin password?
Honestly, it becomes a site visit rather than a phone call. There is no remote reset we can do for you and no back door we can talk you through. Recovery depends on the firmware revision and generally means someone with physical access resetting the unit, after which every user is enrolled again from scratch. This is the commonest access control failure we see, and there is no fault in it at all — the only person who knew the password left the company.

Can the client add and remove staff without calling us?
They must, and you should prove it before you leave. Have the named administrator enrol a new user and delete one while you are still standing there, with their hands on the terminal and not yours. Watching you do it teaches nobody anything.

Someone is locked out at 7am on a Friday. What is the procedure?
Write it down at handover and leave it by the door: who the administrator is, who the deputy is, and how a user gets re-enrolled. A lockout with a written procedure is an inconvenience; a lockout without one is your morning.
