WD Purple Pro 10TB Surveillance Hard Drive WD101PURP

The WD Purple Pro 10 TB (WD101PURP) is a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive from Western Digital for surveillance recorders that write many camera streams around the clock, with a 7200 RPM mechanism and a higher workload rating than standard WD Purple.

Where it fits

Larger NVRs with many cameras, AcuSense or analytics recorders, and sites with long retention periods.

Where it is the wrong choice: desktop PCs and servers — it is tuned for video recording.

Before you order — three things to confirm

• Recorder support. Confirm your recorder accepts a 10 TB drive per bay (see its datasheet).
• Retention. Send the camera count, resolution and days of retention — we check whether 10 TB is enough.
• Number of drives. Larger systems split recording across several drives; confirm the number of bays.
