Where it earns its place on a site

Specify it on fixed, predictable scenes: a corridor, a loading bay you already know the width of, a wall run along a compound fence, a stairwell landing, a car park aisle. These are jobs where the field of view will never need to change, where the camera’s task is to establish that something happened and roughly who was involved, and where the client is paying for coverage density more than forensic detail.

Do not specify it where the scene is undecided. Anywhere the client is still arguing about what the camera should see, a fixed lens turns that argument into a second site visit. The honest rule: a 1-series camera on a 1-series position is good engineering, and a 1-series camera on a position that needed a 2-series is a callback with your name on it.

Before you order

• Decide the lens variant at the desk, not on the ladder. This is a fixed-lens model, so the focal length you order is the coverage you get permanently. Measure the scene width and the mounting distance first, then call us with those two numbers and we will confirm the variant we hold.
• Confirm the power method against your switch. It is a network camera, so it needs a data run and a power plan. Confirm whether the units are powered from a PoE switch or a local supply, and that the switch’s power budget covers the whole run, not just the port count.
• Check the recorder before you check the camera. Count your free NVR channels, the total incoming bitrate at the recorder, and how many days of retention the client actually signed for. On multi-camera orders, storage runs out long before channels do.

Compatibility
