The DS-2CD1047G2H-LIU is the quiet member of Hikvision’s 4 MP ColorVu bullet family. It is a 1-Series network camera with Smart Hybrid Light, so it can hold a colour image after dark on white light rather than dropping the scene to grey infrared. What it does not carry is the /SL suffix its siblings wear, and that omission is the whole reason to specify this part number: no strobe, no siren.

On paper that reads like a feature removed. On site it is usually a feature added: deterrence is only welcome where a false trigger at two in the morning is tolerated. In a compound, a clinic car park or a villa facing a neighbour’s bedroom window, the event that deters a thief on a warehouse yard becomes a complaint to the managing agent — and eventually a camera someone quietly unplugs.

Where it earns its place on a site

Specify it wherever the client wants colour night footage but cannot absorb noise: compound driveways, clinic and pharmacy frontages, hotel entrances and guest parking, and any camera run close enough to windows that an alarm-capable unit would generate phone calls rather than evidence.

White light is itself an intrusion, even with no siren behind it: a camera that flares as a resident passes their own window at midnight is still a nuisance, only a more forgivable one. Treat aiming and mounting height as a courtesy decision as much as a technical one — pitch it down so the light lands on the ground it needs to see rather than into windows or oncoming drivers, and mount it high enough that the beam does not sit at head height on a footpath. • Suffix. Read the part number on the quote character by character. This model and the /SL version are one string apart, and stock systems abbreviate. If the job was specified silent, an /SL delivered by mistake surfaces only at commissioning.
• Lens variant. Fixed-lens bullets are ordered by focal length, and the focal length is not in the title. Settle the coverage first, then confirm the lens option being supplied against the datasheet before the order goes in.
• Recorder headroom. This is an IP camera, so it needs a free channel on an NVR or VMS with the bandwidth and storage to carry a 4 MP stream for the retention the client actually agreed, not the one assumed at survey.

No. The /SL suffix denotes the strobe and siren. This part number does not have it, and it cannot be added later in software. Choose deliberately.

The client wants no light at all at night. Can the white light be left off?
Hybrid light cameras are configured through their night-mode settings, and the options depend on the firmware supplied. Ask us to confirm the current mode list against the datasheet before the design is fixed.

Can I mix these with /SL cameras on one recorder?
