The DS-2CD3761G2-LIZSU is the 6 MP dome you reach for when the ceiling is a long way up and getting back to it costs a lift hire and a permit. It is a Hikvision 3-Series network dome; on a big interior the code’s important parts are the Z and the LI — a remotely set motorised varifocal lens, and hybrid-light imaging.

The S and U conventionally denote audio and alarm terminals and a built-in microphone. We treat that as convention, not gospel: we confirm the shipping revision against the manufacturer datasheet before quoting it into a design. Ask us to do that if either matters on your job.

Where it earns its place on a site

The natural home for this camera is the big interior — warehouses, hotel and mall atriums, showroom floors and sports halls. The unit sits far higher than a corridor camera, on steelwork or high soffit, looking down across a volume rather than along a plane.

Two things follow. First, the mounting point is expensive. Once the lift is off hire and the permit expired, adjusting a fixed lens by hand means re-mobilising — on a live warehouse floor, waiting for a shutdown. A motorised lens turns that return visit into a two-minute change from the security office. Second, height does not buy coverage: racking, mezzanine decks and stacked pallets create blind volumes the camera cannot see into. Resolution buys detail inside the frame; only position and lens decide what is in the frame at all.

The third consideration is not technical at all. Recording audio in an Egyptian workplace is a legal and HR question. Shop floors, break areas and offices carry notification and employment-relations obligations the client’s own legal or HR function must answer in writing before commissioning. The installer cannot answer for them, and a microphone left on by default is a liability handed to a client who never agreed to it.

Before you order — three things to confirm

• Audio authorisation. Get the client’s written position on whether the microphone is enabled, where, and with what signage. Put it on the commissioning sheet as a sign-off item.
• Mounting height and blind volumes. Walk the racking layout and mezzanine edges, then confirm the datasheet lens range covers the scene you need from the height you have.
• Suffix features and cabling. If the alarm and audio terminals are required, confirm them on the datasheet and pull the extra cores at first fix — retrofitting at high level costs the access you were avoiding.

Compatibility

It records to Hikvision NVRs and is managed through Hikvision’s own client software, dropping into an existing head end. Common questions on this model

Can we re-frame the view later without going back up to the camera?
Yes — that is the point of the Z. Zoom and focus are driven remotely from the recorder or client software — the whole argument for this model on a high position.

Does 6 MP mean fewer cameras across a warehouse?
Not reliably. Higher resolution improves detail within a field of view but does nothing about aisles, mezzanine undersides and racking faces that are physically hidden. Count positions from the layout drawing first.

Is the microphone active out of the box, and can it be disabled?
Audio behaviour and the ability to switch it off are configuration items — confirm both against the datasheet and firmware on the shipping revision. Whether audio is recorded at all is the client’s decision.
