Description
The DS-D5C98RB/B puts a 98-inch 4K image on the wall — roughly 2.17 metres wide and 1.22 metres tall of active picture. At 3840 × 2160 across that width, each pixel is about half a millimetre — the reason to buy 4K at this size: a dense spreadsheet or a drawing still resolves from the back of the hall rather than turning to mush.
It is an interactive display, so the touch layer is part of what you are paying for, and that is the honest fork in this decision. From the third row, a 98-inch commercial monitor and a 98-inch interactive display look identical; the difference shows up only when somebody walks to the front and writes on the glass. An interactive display nobody touches is just an expensive monitor that takes longer to boot.
Where it earns its place
Ninety-eight inches is not a bigger meeting-room screen — it is a different category of room. It belongs in auditoriums, lecture theatres, long boardrooms, training halls and showroom walls viewed from a distance, where a 65-inch panel forces you to enlarge everything until only headlines fit. The AV rule of thumb: detailed content wants the furthest viewer within about four times the picture height, slides within six — roughly 4.9 and 7.3 metres here. Measure your room against those numbers first; they decide this purchase more than any line on a datasheet does.
Before you order — three things to confirm
- The room and the viewing distances. Measure the screen wall to the back row and to the front row. Too far and the detail is wasted; too close and nobody takes in the whole panel. Check sight lines over seated heads, and confirm the mounting height lets an average-height presenter reach the top of the writing area.
- The wall or stand, and the route in. This size needs a structural wall or a rated floor or mobile stand; gypsum partitions and hollow blockwork usually need reinforcement. Check the access route too — crate width against doorways and lifts, stairwell turns, and how many people it takes to lift. Plenty of 98-inch installations are delayed by a staircase, not by the wall.
- Who will use the touch layer, and with what. Decide honestly whether presenters will annotate on the glass or simply mirror a laptop into it. If it is mirroring, confirm the source device and how the touch-back connection reaches it. If it is annotation, confirm on the datasheet which system and software ship with your revision — we send that in writing rather than guess.

Compatibility
The panel takes a standard 4K video source: a laptop, a small-form-factor PC, a media player or a room system will drive it. What we will not guess at is the connector set, the touch-return interface or the internal system on your revision — those come from the datasheet for the unit we quote. Tell us the source device and cable run and we will confirm the connection.
What’s in the box
The display and the manufacturer documentation supplied with it. We do not claim a wall bracket, floor stand, OPS PC or stylus as included — contents for the current revision are confirmed on your order. Installation of a panel this size is quoted with it.
Common questions on this model
How far back can the audience sit?
As a working guide, keep the furthest viewer within about 4.9 metres for detailed content and 7.3 metres for slides. Beyond that, the answer is usually a second screen, not a bigger one.
We only want to mirror laptops. Is the interactive version still worth it?
Often not. If nobody will write on the glass, a non-touch commercial display of the same size does the job for less. Tell us how the room is really used and we will say so.
Do you install it?
Installation is quoted with the unit. We check the wall construction, the mounting height and the delivery route before scheduling — a 98-inch panel is not a two-person carry up a narrow staircase.
