Description
The DS-KIS212 is Hikvision’s entry video intercom kit, and the 2 in the model code matters: this is the KIS2xx range, not a trimmed-down DS-KIS6xx. Different range, different platform, different parts list. It exists to do one job: one entrance, one place to answer.
So it is the right line to quote when the brief is small: a single flat, a shop with one street door, an office suite where reception wants to see who is outside. A client who, when pressed, still wants only that. On that job the entry range is not a compromise, and specifying up is not caution — it is the client paying for capability nobody will ever open.
Where it earns its place on a job
An intercom that serves one door well is not a lesser product than one that serves eight; it is the correct product for a building with one door. We would rather sell the smaller thing that fits than the larger thing that impresses, and the client who is told the truth calls back on the next job.
The same honesty runs the other way, and it belongs in the quote rather than the handover. The client has outgrown this range if there is more than one entrance, a second place inside where somebody must pick up, tenants each needing their own answering point, a requirement to record who called, an expectation of answering from a phone rather than the wall, or a plan to extend. Any one of those and this is the wrong part number — quote up, starting around the Hikvision IP Video Intercom Kit DS-KIS610-P.
Before you order — three things to confirm
- Which platform the shipping revision is — the model code alone does not tell you how this range is wired or what it speaks to, and that fact decides the design. Confirm from the datasheet.
- One entrance, one answering point — get it from the client in writing. The back gate and the second floor appear after the order is placed, and here they are not a settings change.
- The model on the approved spec — check it says DS-KIS212 and has not carried a KIS6xx number over from an earlier job. The ranges read alike on paper and do not interchange.
Technical specifications
- Manufacturer: Hikvision
- Model: DS-KIS212
- Type: video intercom kit, supplied as one part number
- Range: KIS2xx entry range — separate from the DS-KIS6xx kits, not a variant of them
- Everything else — screen size, camera specification, resolution, wiring type and exact contents — full manufacturer datasheet available on request — call 16454
Compatibility
Treat a kit part number as a matched set and design around it as one item. Do not assume a unit from the KIS6xx kits will pair with it, that spares cross the ranges, or that an intercom riser in the building will accept it. Tell us what is on the wall and we will check the datasheet first.
What’s in the box
Kit packaging is revised between production runs, so contents for the current revision are confirmed on the order, not published here. Assume nothing beyond the kit itself: locks, power supplies, exit buttons, boxes and cable are separate lines on your quote.
Common questions on this model
How do we know if this is enough for us?
Run the short version past the client. One entrance. One position indoors where somebody answers. One household or one business behind the door, not several. No need to record who called, no answering from a mobile while out, nothing planned that adds a second door or answering point. All yes and this range is enough; buying above it is money spent on nothing. One no and you are in the KIS6xx conversation.
Is the KIS2xx range a KIS6xx kit with features removed?
No, and quoting on that assumption is how installers get caught. They are separate ranges to separate specifications, so a KIS6xx datasheet is not a guide to this model.
We are fitting out four flats above a shop — can we use four of these?
No. Four single-door kits at one shared entrance is four door units on one wall, which is not a design, it is a queue. Separate tenants need a multi-tenant system from the start.
Every DS-KIS212 we supply is genuine Hikvision stock with the official one-year manufacturer warranty, delivered across Egypt. For datasheet confirmation, project pricing or a second opinion on whether this range fits your job, call 16454.
