The DS-2CD1347G2H-LIU is the quiet version of Hikvision’s 4 MP ColorVu turret: a 1-Series network camera with Smart Hybrid Light and nothing bolted to it that flashes or shouts. The absence is the specification. No /SL suffix means no strobe and no audible alarm, and on a great many jobs that is exactly right.

Smart Hybrid Light does the work here: infrared when a space is dark, white supplement light when the scene needs colour, so a corridor with the house lights off yields a colour image rather than a grey silhouette. The turret housing is compact and aims on its ball joint, reading as a fitting rather than an installation — which matters more than installers expect when the people beneath it are the client’s own customers.

Where it earns its place on a site

Receptions, open-plan offices, clinic waiting rooms, hotel corridors, showrooms and retail floors — anywhere the people in front of the lens are customers, patients or guests rather than intruders. There, a camera that reacts is a liability. A strobe firing at a patient at two in the morning, or a warning tone triggered by a cleaner in a hotel corridor, produces complaints rather than evidence, and the usual outcome is that somebody logs in and switches it off within a fortnight. Deterrence hardware you disable in software is money spent twice: once on the purchase order, once on the visit to switch it off. Put the deterrent on perimeters and gates; put this one where the brief is to see clearly and stay out of the way. Where a position does want the strobe and the alarm, the DS-2CD1347G2H-LIUF/SL is the same camera with both fitted.

Before you order — three things to confirm

• Lens variant. Fixed-lens ColorVu turrets are ordered by focal length, and the part number does not say which is in the carton. Match it to the corridor width or room depth before ordering; correcting it later is a second visit and a second ladder.
• White light policy. Agree with the client, in writing, what the camera may do after hours in an occupied space. Supplement light is far gentler than a strobe, but a reception lit all night is still a conversation for before commissioning, not after.
• Recorder channels and switch budget. Confirm a free licensed channel on the NVR, capacity for the retention the client asked for, and PoE headroom on the port. Power draw figures are on the datasheet.

Compatibility

It is a standard Hikvision IP camera: recorded on Hikvision NVRs, configured through its own web interface, viewed through Hikvision’s desktop and mobile client software. If you are adding it to an older recorder, check the NVR firmware before committing the order — on a mixed-generation site it is the recorder, not the camera, that causes trouble. For third-party VMS work, ask us to confirm the supported protocols on the current revision.

Common questions on this model

Does this one have the strobe light and the audible alarm?
No. Those belong to the /SL variant. This part number ends at LIU, so there is no active deterrence hardware in it — nothing to disable, nothing to explain to a client.

If there is no siren, how does anyone get alerted?
As most commercial sites already do: the event is handled at the recorder or VMS and pushed to whoever is on duty, rather than announced to the room.

Can I run this alongside the /SL version on the same recorder?
Yes. Same class, same platform. The common pattern is the deterrent version outside on the perimeter and this one inside on public-facing areas, all on one NVR.
