On a fit-out where every ceiling gets data drops for access points and cameras, adding audio points to the same containment and the same patch panel is a small increment — while an analogue system means a second, entirely separate cabling exercise with its own routes, its own amplifier and its own zoning fixed in copper.

It wins twice on buildings that get re-partitioned. A serviced office, a floor let to different tenants over time, a school that reorganises rooms — in those buildings zoning is a setting, so a wall moving does not mean a cabling job. Against that, be clear about the cost side: every speaker needs a network port and a share of the switch’s power budget, so the switch and the cabling are where the money goes instead of into the amplifier.

Before you order — three things to confirm

• Ports and power at the switch. Each speaker occupies a port and draws power from the same budget as the cameras and access points already on it. Count the whole load, not the audio alone.
• The ceiling and the void above it. A recessed ceiling speaker needs a cut-out, clearance above the tile, and something to secure it to. Confirm the ceiling type and what is in the void before the layout is fixed.
• Who owns the network. On a client-managed network, audio devices need addresses, a decision about segregation, and somebody in IT who agrees to it. Get that conversation done before delivery rather than on commissioning day.

Common questions on this model

Is 3 W enough?
For background level in an office or a corridor, yes — that is what it is for. For a canteen, a workshop or anywhere with real background noise, it is the wrong speaker and we will point you at a different one.

Can we mix these with analogue speakers?
Buildings often end up with both. It is workable, but it means two systems to operate unless they are bridged deliberately, so decide that at design stage rather than discovering it later.

Do we need a separate amplifier?
