Specify it where deterrence has commercial value, not everywhere. On a typical project that means the two or three positions people actually approach — the gate, the loading bay, the cash office corridor — with cheaper fixed cameras filling the rest of the coverage. Putting active-deterrence units on every position is how a quote loses to a competitor’s; putting them on the right three is how a client stops calling about incidents.

Before you order — three things to confirm

• Recorder capacity. 6 MP streams cost more storage than 2 MP. Size the drive for the retention the client actually wants, not the default.
• Power budget. Active deterrence draws more than a plain camera when it triggers. Check the PoE budget on your switch or NVR across all connected cameras, not per port.
• Mounting height and angle. The strobe only deters if the person can see it. Mounted too high or angled too steeply it becomes decoration.

Compatibility

Standard Hikvision protocols, so it drops into an existing NVR without extra hardware, and is managed through Hik-Connect or iVMS-4200 alongside whatever is already on the system. Yes — deterrence is configurable per schedule, so you can run it only outside working hours and leave the camera silent during the day.

Is 6 MP worth it over 4 MP on a gate?
At a gate, usually yes: the extra detail is the difference between describing a person and identifying one. On a wide car park where you are covering area rather than identifying faces, 4 MP is often the better value.
