Hikvision 4-Port Fast Ethernet PoE Switch DS-3E0106MP-E/M
A four-port unmanaged PoE switch for the small, finished camera job — a shop, a clinic, a single-floor office — where Fast Ethernet is genuinely enough and the saving is better spent on the camera. Know where that ceiling sits before you quote it. Call 16454.

Description
Four PoE ports, Fast Ethernet rather than gigabit, and nothing to log into — the Hikvision DS-3E0106MP-E/M goes behind a genuinely small camera job, where money saved on the switch is better spent on the camera. It sits in the DS-3E0 line, Hikvision’s unmanaged tier: nothing to configure, nothing to misconfigure.
The word installers apologise for is “Fast”. Fast Ethernet is the older, slower class — a hundred-megabit port against a gigabit port’s thousand — and the reflex is to treat it as a fault. It is not. A handful of cameras streaming to a recorder do not fill a hundred megabits, and the price difference is real. The skill is not avoiding Fast Ethernet. It is knowing where it stops being enough.
Where it earns its place on a job
Its place is the small, finished installation: a pharmacy, a workshop, a single-floor office. A few cameras, one recorder, one cable per camera carrying data and power. There it is the correct part, and quoting gigabit sells capacity that will sit idle for the life of the system.
The ceiling arrives from four directions: the camera count creeping up, the resolution going up, several people pulling back recorded footage at once while recording continues, or this switch becoming the path for traffic that is not cameras. Any of those turns a hundred megabits from generous into tight. The trap is never installation day. It is eighteen months later, when a client adds four more cameras to a switch that was exactly right for four — and the complaint is not a dead system, it is stuttering playback that gets blamed on the cameras.
Small and finished, buy this without apology. Likely to grow, compare the four-port Hikvision DS-XS06G-P first — same port count, gigabit ports.
Before you order — three things to confirm
- Headroom, not today’s count. How many cameras go in now, and how many in two years. Four ports for four cameras leaves nothing, and camera five means a second switch and a second power point.
- What your cameras need to power up. A PoE port is not a promise that a given camera will run on it; the standard and wattage matter. Send the model to 16454 and we will check the datasheet.
- The link back upstream. Confirm how the switch reaches the recorder or router and what that hop runs at — the whole site’s playback crosses it. Uplink count and type are datasheet items.
Technical specifications
- Model: Hikvision DS-3E0106MP-E/M
- 4 × PoE ports
- Fast Ethernet class (stated in the title)
- Unmanaged switch, DS-3E0 series — no management interface
- Total PoE budget, per-port wattage, supported PoE standards, uplink ports, switching capacity, dimensions and power input: full manufacturer datasheet available on request — call 16454
Compatibility
It sits between the router or recorder and standards-based PoE devices — Hikvision cameras most often, though a PoE port is not brand-locked. Match the powering standard and the device’s draw on the datasheet: both ends saying PoE is not the same as agreeing. Unmanaged means no VLANs and no port-level policy.
What’s in the box
Contents vary by revision and are confirmed on the order, not promised here. Do not assume a power supply, patch leads or mounting hardware — ask on 16454 before you price the job.
Common questions on this model
Should we just buy gigabit anyway and stop worrying about it?
Often yes, and we will say so — if the gap is small on the day and the site may grow, faster ports are cheap insurance. Not automatically, though. On a job that will still be a four-camera job in five years, gigabit is money spent on nothing.
We have four cameras now and might go to eight. Is this the wrong switch?
Yes, for that plan. Four ports and four cameras is a full switch, not a small one, and phase two will not fit. Cascading a second unit later costs more in labour than the right switch costs today.
Can we hang a wireless access point or a network speaker off it alongside the cameras?
Electrically that is what PoE is for, subject to the standard and draw checking out. The caution is bandwidth, not power: once it carries traffic that is not cameras, Fast Ethernet is no longer sized for cameras alone.
Every unit is genuine Hikvision stock with the official one-year manufacturer warranty and local technical support. We deliver across Egypt; for the PoE figures or a sizing check, call 16454.
