Hikvision 32-Channel AcuSense NVR, No PoE, 2 HDD Bays DS-7632NXI-K2

Hikvision 32-Channel AcuSense NVR, No PoE, 2 HDD Bays DS-7632NXI-K2

Thirty-two IP channels into two HDD bays makes the DS-7632NXI-K2 a recorder for wide coverage and short retention, not a long look-back on every camera. There is no /P in the code, so no built-in PoE — switching for thirty-two cameras is a separate line on the quote. Drives quoted separately. Projects pricing on 16454.

Description

Thirty-two IP channels feeding two drive bays. That one line is the whole character of the DS-7632NXI-K2, and it is worth sitting with: a recorder built to take this many cameras and hold this few disks has already made a choice on your behalf.

The rest of the code fills in the detail. NXI is the AcuSense line, so person and vehicle classification happens inside the recorder rather than being left to the cameras alone. K2 is the two HDD bays. And there is no /P anywhere in DS-7632NXI-K2, so there is no built-in PoE: every camera arrives over the network already powered by something else.

Where it earns its place on a job

Channel count and retention depth pull against each other, and this recorder is built for the first. Channels buy you coverage; bays buy you memory — and this model sells a great deal of the one and a strictly limited amount of the other. Thirty-two cameras writing into two drives is a short memory spread wide, which is right for a busy retail floor, a hotel’s back of house or a distribution counter: sites where an incident is reviewed within a fortnight and nobody asks for last quarter.

It suits badly the site that wants a long look-back on all thirty-two cameras at once. The honest fix there is not a bigger pair of drives and hopeful arithmetic — it is more bays, or fewer channels per box and two recorders instead of one. Deciding which of those two sites you are standing in is the real specification work here. The rest is cabling.

Powering is the second half of the same conversation. Thirty-two cameras with no PoE on the recorder is not a footnote, it is a switch — realistically more than one, chosen on port count, power budget and uplink capacity rather than on price. Two 24-port units such as the Hikvision 24-Port Gigabit Smart PoE Switch DS-3E1528P-SI-24P4F cover a build this size with room to grow. Whichever you pick, that switching is a real line on the quote, it wants rack space and its own mains feed, and the recorder’s price does not include a watt of it.

Before you order — three things to confirm

  • Retention, in days, before drives. Two bays across thirty-two channels is arithmetic you do in advance, not a surprise in month two. Give us the days, the channels you will actually run and the resolution, and we will size the pair with you.
  • How many switches, not just which switch. Count camera ports, add uplinks, check the power budget against the cameras on the bill of materials, and confirm the cabinet has room and mains.
  • What the cameras themselves are. The recorder classifies person and vehicle, but which smart events work end to end depends on the camera models beside it.

Technical specifications

  • Channels: 32 IP
  • Series: NXI — AcuSense, with person and vehicle classification performed by the recorder
  • HDD bays: 2 (drives not included, quoted separately)
  • Built-in PoE: none — no /P in the model code, so cameras are powered from separate PoE switches
  • Full manufacturer datasheet available on request — call 16454

Compatibility

Built for Hikvision IP cameras and managed through the standard Hikvision software stack. Supported camera lists, third-party behaviour, bandwidth planning and drive limits per bay all live in the manufacturer datasheet — call 16454 and we will send it.

What’s in the box

  • 1 × Hikvision DS-7632NXI-K2 network video recorder
  • Manufacturer’s standard accessories and documentation for the current revision, confirmed on the order
  • No hard drives and no PoE switch — both quoted separately

Common questions on this model

Can two drives really serve thirty-two cameras?
They record them. What two bays limit is how far back you can look, not whether the channels run — retention is the constraint you meet first. Give us your target on 16454.

Do I need one switch or several?
For thirty-two cameras, plan on more than one, plus the uplinks back to the recorder. This model supplies no power at all, so the switching is designed and priced as its own part of the system.

Can I start with fewer cameras and grow into it?
Yes — thirty-two is a ceiling, not a requirement. Buying it early suits a phased rollout where the camera count is heading upward and you would rather not swap the recorder halfway through.
