Indoor Network Camera
Indoor network cameras cover corridors, retail aisles, reception, stock rooms and open-plan floors. What most often goes wrong is pricing every position the same. Most only have to show whether somebody was in the room and roughly when; two or three are the positions an incident report will be written about.
How to choose
- Split the schedule into two tiers. Decide on the drawing which positions carry the real risk — entrance, cash office, goods-in — and which are routine. Put the volume camera on the routine ones and spend the saving on the few that matter.
- Survey the ceiling first. A dome is only as good as the ceiling it hangs from. Concrete takes a direct fixing; plasterboard and lay-in tile need a support plate spanning to the grid or the slab. Check void depth and cable route, and order brackets and back boxes separately.
- Settle the field of view at the survey. With a fixed lens the angle is decided when the order is placed, not on the ladder. Walk the plan: mounting height, distance to target, the width each position must see.
- Treat resolution as a recorder decision. More pixels on every channel are paid for in recording days, disk capacity and licensed channels on the NVR, not only in the camera price.
